Director's Notes:  Batboy is the perfect Venture Theatre show. The play exists on a variety of levels. On one level, it is absolute farce. It is also a parody of classic horror. In addition, Batboy is an allegorical tale of racism and prejudice. It is at once soap opera and classic tragedy, serious and ridiculous. As silly as the premise of the play is, this musical has one of the biggest hearts of any show you'll meet.

This production also does something that is so valuable for us at Venture. This production, more than any we've ever done, makes a seamless connection between our youth training program and our more experienced adult actors. Clearly, you will be able to tell who is older and who is younger, but the distinction between level of proficiency is a bit more blurred. The blend between training and enactment is fully realized in this production. It is truly exciting to behold the Venture mission achieved so soon in the new facility.
